it's official

Okay, I've decided that something big is definitely about to happen. About 4 months ago I noticed that my parents started spending a lot more time in the room that used to be dad's office. They moved out all the junk and moved in new furniture, a nice soft rug, and some very tempting toys. Up until now I've been pretty sure this room is for me.

That's why I love to nap in there, right behind the rocking chair.

I thought this sweet lamb was for me, but mom keeps scolding me when I take him off the bed to introduce him to my racoon.

Mom's belly has definitely grown a lot. She doesn't walk me as much or as far as she used to and she goes so much slower! Whatever is growing inside her better come out soon. Maybe it's a new friend for me?

6 months flies by...

My, how time has flown by! I guess I've just been so busy (you know, the usual stuff- barking at the neighbor dogs, digging holes, chasing squirrels off the bird feeder, catching moles) that I haven't had a chance to blog in a long time! 2009 ended well, with some fun play dates with my sis, Selwyn. Sadly, my parents had to end the playdates because they are trying to grow a lawn. We've never really had grass, and I sure would like to roll around in it one day!

Sometimes Selwyn and I fight,

and play real rough...

...and then we make up

Nothing better than snuggling with my sis. This was my 2nd birthday gift. I love my new bed!

Christmas time usually means some kind of torture...well okay, I guess I started it.
New Year's Eve when my parents came home...
Daddy taught me to help him bring in the firewood! Yummy!
I help warm the bed before Mommy comes to bed.
I'm starting to get the feeling that something is going to change around here pretty soon...mom and dad keep saying things like, "you better enjoy this attention now, because pretty soon you won't be the center of our world." I mean, what is that supposed to mean? And, "this is the last time you'll be allowed up in bed to snuggle." They also emptied out a room and now it always smells like paint. They keep bringing stuff in there and I'm just not sure what to think...I'm a little worried. Not to mention that Mommy must be eating too much cake these days...she's getting a little chunky.
I guess I'll just have to cuddle up with my buddies for comfort...
I think Dad and I will be spending lots of quality time together from here on out. I love reading with him!
Me and my buddy, Zoe Shea!

See what I mean about mom putting on the lbs?!

back to doggie heaven...or hell?

This summer we went back up to Seneca Lake...but this time it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. A few days after arriving, I began feeling very sick. I didn't want to eat and I was terribly lethargic. As you might guess, that had my parents worried immediately. After a few days of this nonsense they finally bought me to the vet...we travelled far away to Ithaca, home of the top vet school in the US, Cornell University. They said I was in good hands, but I wasn't so sure.

The car ride to Ithaca...I was pitiful.

I showed up with my usual happy-to-see-you, wag-the-tail attitude and the vet surely thought they were crazy to bring me there (hee hee hee, I've got it down). They sent us home. Then the next morning, I didn't want to get up. At all. I didn't want to move. Mom started crying and I could barely look up at her, much less wag my tail when she approached. When they finally forced me to get up, I ran away to hide. I just felt awful and didn't want anyone to mess with me! That day when I began having head tremors, my parents knew this was no joke. They rushed me back to the hospital. So after another visit (I tried to act normal, but it was a little harder this time), they sent us home with some meds. They thought I had a skin infection of some sort. Boy were they wrong.

The next day got worse and when my temperature went above 105 degrees, my parents knew we had to go all the way back to see the vet again. This time they left me!! It was terrible...I had to undergo all sorts of tests...ultrasound, X-ray, fluid taken from my joints. The vet finally clued in that although my tests were negative for Lyme Disease, it was still possible that a tiny tick attacked and gave me something called Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They don't have this tick up in New York, so the vet didn't really consider the possibility. Turns out North Carolina has the highest incidents of RMSF! The medicine they gave me kicked in pretty quickly and my parents finally brought me home after 2 miserable nights in a cage at the hospital.

A week after getting to The Lake, I finally got to start enjoying it. Let's just say I was a tiny bit spoiled the whole time. What else is new?

a very crockett christmas

Christmas time was fun for me, despite the "headband" I was forced to wear occasionally. The best part about Christmas is the tree full of toys! I was especially interested in one of the many "mini me" toys on the tree. Here's my story:

The Christmas tree is apparently what santa created for doggies. It is a game in which I see what toy I can pull of the tree, I play with it for a little while, my mommy comes and yells at me and puts it back on the tree, and then I get a new toy off the tree. And the cycle continues!

This was my first Christmas tree toy experience. It was a "mini-me" hangin on the tree, so had to see what it was about.

"Hey buddy, you look just like me!"

Ha! Gotcha!!

Pretty yummy! Not quite as fun as the tree balls, but it will do for now.

my first birthday!!

I just turned one and had an awesome doggie party in our backyard. I made lots of new friends too! Thanks to all of you who came, especially Lucy, Clementine, Geronimo, Clara (Banjo), and Trout!
Of course I love my canine friends, but I really think the party would have been more fun if we had all hung out together! Thanks to AB and Sandi for playing with us!

So many great people were there, including my aunt and uncle, Libby and Mac, and my grandparents, Brian and Elise!!

Mmmm...hot dogs!

And check out the beers! Dogfish, Black Dog Ale, Flying Dog, and Turbodog!

This is my birthday cake...yummy!

The milkbone was made for the humans. Finally they got to taste the goodness.

These are the favors for everyone: humans, dogs, and even kitties-who couldn't make it (darn!)
Human favors were dog shaped cookies!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME"This cake smells SO good! Who's gonna get the first bite?...

Nice work Trout!! He was not afraid! Here's Trout going in again! Getchya some, boy! My mom said she's never laughed so much! The girls are a bit more delicate...

Check out Geronimo in his cool gear!

We want in!

This was me after everyone left...I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Time for bed!

I just want to say Thank Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu to everyone!!!! Woo hooooooooooo!
